| stripe-tailed / serape
This is a male Stripe-tailed hummingbird, originally photographed by Michael & Patricia Fogden. Their preferred habitat is forested mountains from the Chiapas into Guatemala, the Honduras and Nicaragua.9 The artist has reinterpreted the environment that surrounds and sustains the hummingbird... as a South American serape of stripes inspired by the striped-tail and luminous red flowers that this bird often pierces (straight through the petals) to drink the nectar.
