This is a male Scintillant hummingbird, originally photographed by Michael and Patricia Fogden. Their habitat is limited to a small area on the southern side of the Costa Rican and Panamanian mountains.9 The artist has reinterpreted the environment that surrounds and sustains the hummingbird... as a wealth of embroidered taupe, white and sienna brown-golds. The background has soft folds that give the illusion of dimension.
